Welcome

hello guys, i created this blog because i simply love the dog breed pekingese, right now i have a 2 year old white pekingese named "sushi". for a quick reference about this breed i will be posting some basic information of this wonderful breed.

im also posting my 100++ year old foo dog antique figurine which i bought recently from an antique collector, the owner of this antique figurine told me that it came from her great grandmother. i just love the foo dog figurine because its where the pekingese was referred to because of their resemblance to this ancient chinese lion dogs.

The Pekingese' or Peke (also commonly referred to as a "Lion Dog" or "Foo (or Fu) Dog" due to their resemblance to Chinese guardian lions) is an ancient breed of toy dog, originating in China. They were the favored pet of the Chinese Imperial court, and the name relates to the city of Beijing where the Forbidden City resides. The breed has several characteristics and health issues related to its unique appearance.

The dogs are also called Dogs of Foo (or Fu, word for happy in Chinese) by the Chinese, and how much they are revered can be seen in the number of Chinese artworks depicting them. They were considered a guardian spirit as they resembled Chinese guardian lions (see Lion dance). Also see Pug dog breed, of similar origin and their resemblance to Chinese guardian lions
